Three Olympic athletes

Here’s a photograph from the August 2 1932 edition of the Toronto Daily Star of three women who were in Los Angeles for the Olympic Games.

Betty Taylor (1916-1977) was only 16 years old at the time of this photograph. In the 1932 Olympics, she was eliminated in the first round of the 80-metre hurdles. Four years later, she won the bronze medal in this event.

Myrtle Cook (1902-1985) has appeared in this blog before. She was part of the gold medal winning 4×100 relay event at the 1928 Games.

Alda Wilson (1910-1993) was also an 80-metre hurdler. She finished sixth in this event at the 1932 Games.
