Here’s an ad from the August 31 1931 edition of the Toronto Daily Star featuring a woman who claimed that she never washed her face.
Edna Wallace Hopper (1872-1959) was a stage and silent film actress. She was 59 years old, not over 60, at the time this ad came out. (However, she was born in San Francisco and claimed that her birth records had been destroyed in the 1906 earthquake, so maybe she actually was that old.) She had an additional beauty secret, not mentioned in this ad: she was one of the first actors to get her face lifted.
