The September 18 1931 edition of the Toronto Daily Star contained this photo of two movie stars who had run off to Las Vegas to get married:
Lew Ayres (1908-1996) appeared in movies and TV shows from 1929 to 1994. Lola Lane (1906-1981) was one of the four Lane Sisters, and was the real-life inspiration for Superman’s love interest, Lois Lane.
Sadly, the couple’s marriage did not last long. They were separated soon after, and divorced in 1933.
